A Jack Of All Trades

When it comes to video production, I’ve had just about every role a person can have. That’s the benefit of having worked as a big fish in a small pond. I started at a video production agency, and was quickly referred to as the team’s “quarterback.”

Scheduling, writing, lighting, shooting, directing, editing, and audio… ing. I’ve done it all, and often at the same time. The shear breath of knowledge and skills gained from my diverse background has proven handy in more ways than I can count, but two come to mind: problem-solving and communication.

Problem-solving, because every creative and professional endeavor involves some fast thinking and flexibility, and communication, because filmmaking takes a team. Understanding workflows, interpersonal dynamics, and most importantly understanding people can go a long way to both earn others’ respect and return it earnestly.

Subaru - Family Testimonial

What’s better than making a commercial? Making eight commercials! That’s exactly what we did over the course of three days of filming in Las Vegas. Here are two of my favorites. This one is a family testimonial.

Subaru - Employee Spot (Spanish)

This second spot is a Spanish-language commercial. Both are thirty-second broadcast spots that I edited, among having other roles on set. I’m not fluent in Spanish, but eight years of classes certainly paid off.

USA Scientific - Flagship Video

Every company should have “The Video.” The one that they can show anyone at anytime and convey three things: who they are, what they do, and why they matter. Sometimes it is an “About Us” video and sometimes it’s called the “Flagship” video. This is USA Scientific’s video.

Kia - Vehicle Features Video

No internal communication is more effective than video. Studies have shown that people not only retain information better when watching a video, they choose to watch videos over written memos. Kia understands this and regularly uses video to relay important company and product information to employees and dealerships. This is just one of many vehicle feature videos I’ve helped direct, shoot, and edit.

The Pool Boy - Trailer (Mature)

A trailer for the short film I directed, edited, and co-wrote. The short film, created as a proof-of-concept for the feature screenplay, has recently finished post production and is actively being submitted to festivals across the country.

Signature Sounds - Music Video

I created this music video for singer/songwriter Heather Maloney. We worked closely together to establish a storyboard and plot details. While I can take credit for most of the shot compositions and animation, the beautiful illustrations came right from the artist herself!

3 Day Blinds - App Overview

A series of twenty explainer videos were commissioned by 3 Day Blinds, and I was assigned as the project manager. Several videos included talent, while others were solely animations. I worked closely with their team to learn the ins and outs of their motorized blinds and mobile app. I co-directed the videos and worked with their marketing team throughout post-production.

ectoHOMES - Real Estate

EctoHOMES needed a way to showcase their new property, the only issue was that the coronavirus pandemic had began. I aided in the writing, filming, and editing of several promotional videos for them so that they could reach their target audience virtually.

Demo Reel

This particular reel isn’t what you might call, “corporate professional.” Instead, it is a mash-up of clips from a wide array of projects, both personal and professional, with high-energy music.

Brands

My roles with these companies and projects range from producing, directing, shooting, and editing, both through an agency and my own freelancing.
